Background

I led design on a platform of design components, interactions, and system rules for the core Rider Experience at Lyft — which encompasses the end-to-end flow once a user requests a car up until they arrive at their destination.

Problem

Without a holistic design approach, components that had been introduced into the Lyft rider experience over several years had become inconsistent in their styling and behavior. Without standardized components that follow hierarchical behaviors, the rider experience had grown out of control with competing information.

Goals

  • Turn the ride experience into a smart, scalable, self-service product platform which any team can use with minimal friction.
  • Standardize + improve ride experience components and interactions.
