Background

Team Drives was a long term strategic project for Google Drive. I came into the project at a later stage to craft the visual theming direction and, as the lead on our Web and iOS platforms, to help integrate the feature into the current Drive UI.

Problem

In enterprise, Teams working together often create unwieldy, poorly performing shared folder structures for collaboration. Drive's individual-level file ownership model can create confusing and destructive situations.

Goals

• Create a distinct, parallel space for team content
• By default give file/folder ownership and access to everyone inside the Team Drive to limit complexity
