Friends and Family on the Safety Map

Connect with close friends and family on Citizen and always know if they're safe.

This feature gives Citizen users the ability to see people they care about on the Safety Map, receive alerts if they're nearby something potentially dangerous, and send direct messages to check-in on them.

Released Q3 2020.

Video Thumbnails and Icon Categories

Easily see at a glance what's happening around you.

I designed an iconography system to help users quickly understand the types of incidents happening on the map and how severe those incidents are. In addition to categories indicators, video thumbnails play clip previews on the map.

Released Q4 2020.

Immersive Video News Tab

Swipe through live and breaking full-screen video news stories.

I led design on an immersive, gesture-based video consumption experience for the Citizen News tab. Users can swipe up and down to advance through stories. Other gestures allow for pausing, scrubbing, and reacting to videos.

Released Q1 2021.

Messaging and Awareness

Message friends, share incidents, and receive alerts when friends may be in danger.

I led design on a social layer that spans across the entire Citizen app experience. Connect with friends and family on Citizen to keep each other safe and informed by sending direct messages and checking on each other.

Released Q1 2020.
